A bittersweet day today as K9 Tigger officially retires. Tigger is an eight-year-old Dutch Shepherd who has selflessly served Adams County for the past six years.
Tigger quickly earned the reputation as one of the most dependable, determined, hard-working dogs in the region. His nickname quickly became "Wonder dog" (along with a couple others). Even though he won't admit it, Tigger likes his cuddles and belly rubs. Tigger will play for hours even after a long day of work and truly enjoys being outside.
Tigger has played a vital role in countless investigations and high-risk operations throughout his years of service. Tigger has a confirmed 165 arrests, including 11 apprehensions involving bites. Detection and seizure of well over 2.8 kg of methamphetamine 19.3 kg of cocaine 334 g of fentanyl 12.3 g of heroin and 1.56 g of ecstasy.
Tigger's drive for work is unmatched and words cannot describe what an amazing partner he has been throughout the years. The numerous deployments with shift mates, and endless memories to last a lifetime.
Wishing Tigger, the happiest retirement filled with all the love, treats and belly rubs he can handle!

At Adams County Retired K9 Foundation, we are dedicated supporting the retired police dogs of Adams County and their handlers. Our mission is to ensure these brave animals receive the care and support they need after serving their community.
Founded in 2020, Adams County Retired K9 Foundation has been working to reduce the financial burden to the handlers after they adopt their K9 partner when eligible for retirement.
Our team is made up of dedicated individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the world. From our volunteers to our board members, everyone at Adams County Retired K9 Foundation is committed to our mission.
Lex is a very energetic Belgian Malinois and is right around 13 years old. Lex retired in 2021 and currently lives a very comfortable life, of sleeping on the couch, going for walks, and playing with plush toys that “mom and dad” get him. Lex loves being the center of attention and loves being petted. Lex used to be known as a crazy, aggressive dog, but in retirement he is the most loving, lazy, friendly dog you could ever meet. Lex loves his family and has affectionately been given the nickname “house cat” because he refuses to live outside anymore and requires a nice soft plush bed to sleep on, with an abundance of treats at his disposal.
